Moving up two divisions in as many years, with over 200 registered players from 17 nations, and located in the best part of Australia, using the most impressive amateur training facility in Sydney, Waverley Rugby Club is seeking nominations for coaches and team managers for the 2017 season.

Heading into the Division 1 suburban rugby competition in 2017 to contest the Kentwell Cup, the club is seeking to strengthen and broaden the coaching and management squad by restructuring and recruiting for these positions across all six open men’s grades, women’s, colts and over 35s.

Waverley Rugby Club is notoriously social, whilst achieving great results on the pitch. We won Division 2 club of the year for 2016 and had a club-wide win rate of 82 per cent. All grades made finals with a total points difference of +1,419 points, the second highest achieved by any club across all of suburban rugby in every division (Cowboy Cup). The current coaching set up boasts Paul Dillon, former Balmain first grade head coach, and ex-Welsh International Ben Evans.

Pre-season training commences in January and finals are held in mid August. Pre-season training happens at Waverley Oval on the state of the art new synthetic turfed oval on Monday and Wednesday nights until the end of March and training throughout the season is held on Tuesday and Thursday nights, with games held each Saturday.

The club’s recent success can be attributed in large part to the highly engaged committee and the enthusiastic support of the old boys collective who routinely fundraise for the club and supported the mission to return to Kentwell Cup, where the club intends to stay.

This year, two grades were grand final champions and major premiers. All others made finals. Recruitment of players is a major focus in the off-season. Off the pitch, Waverley Rugby Club raised $6500 for Hearts in Union.

The club will be seeking applications for coaching and team manager roles up until the end of November. Contact Vice President Steven Cassells 0400 412 305 to discuss.
