Photo Blog – Women Away to Warringah Rats

Once again, Lauren Perry Sarah Ebsworth (sorry for the mix up girls, thanks Sarah) has snuck behind the camera to take some pictures for Waverley Rugby Club, capturing the girls as they headed North to play against the Warringah Rats on 7 May 2011.

Fabbo pics Sarah!

Want to see your photos here? Why not volunteer to pull out your camera (even if it is just a point and shoot) and capture some snaps, of all the action either on or off the field. If you’re interested, just put your comment below.

Good Luck – Women’s Sevens Team in Crescent Head

Waverley’s Women’s team is currently up in in Crescent Head for their annual Seven’s Tournament. As the below photo attests to, they’ve having a great time, with training on the beach… and no doubt followed by a few beers tonight.

Updates will be posted throughout the weekend on the Women’s Twitter Feed. Just head to @WavesWomenRugby to updates.

Welcome Bonnie!

Waverley Women are please to welcome new player Bonnie Coulls to their team.

Bonnie has never played rugby before, but was encouraged to take it up by Channel 9 television who are currently following her for a TV program about life-style changes.

Although she has never even watched rugby before (having recently moved here from AFL dominant South Australia) she was quick to learn the basics, and showed she had some pace when needed chasing down Mel Ryan in a game of touch at the end.

All the girls loved being filmed during training, and the production company have advised that they got some great footage of us all.

Full details of the televison show are confidnetial at this point, but we’ll make sure to give you plenty of notice when it is being aired so you can all see the girls on the small-screen.

The girls are greatful to NSW Farmers who supplied a set of training shirts at short notice, to ensure we all looked the real deal for the TV crew.

Helen makes the NSW Development Team

One of Waverley’s newest recruits, Helen Blevins, has made the NSW Women’s Development team and is contesting the Women’s Australian National Championships in Canberra between June 3rd and 7th. Congratulations!

Fundraising

Unfortunately for Helen, she needs to pay her own way in order to compete. And when you’re in the middle of travelling around the world, raising $400 is a tough ask. Read More→
