Badda-Bing – Trials are Here

Badda Bing, Badda Boom… with trial numero uno on this Saturday it’s time to start getting serious…

Are you Registered

The first step in the process is to make sure you’re registered. For a few reasons, mainly the ARU / Subbies Rugby say you’ve got to. So there. Do it.

No doubt if the ARU / Subbies said you had to go to bed at 9.00pm each night for a week, and you’d receive AU$100,000, you probably wouldn’t do it, so here are the real reasons:

  • It protects you
  • It protects the Club

It Protects You

You are protected because you become covered by the Clubs, insurance policy. For relatively minor injury, you’re not going to get much out of it, but God forbid, if something really serious happened, you’re going to be looking to use the insurance policy.

The policy not only covers you in matches, but it also covers you at organised training. So as we get closer and closer to the season, and training gets closer to what you’re going to experience on match days, it’s better to have that policy sitting in your back pocket.

It Protects the Club

Basically the same applies to Waverley Rugby Club. Having you insured, provides protection to the Club / Coaches / Officials. Not having your insured potentially exposes the Club to a whole raft of problems if you get injured, or you injure someone else.

You Must be Registered to Play

Soooooo you will not be able to play for Waverley, ncluding Trial Matches, until you are registered.

If you want to play in this weekend’s trial matches, you must complete your registration now.

You can jump straight to our registration site here: http://register.waverleyrugby.com.au/

Why Register and Pay Now?

Clearly, if you want to play, you’ve got to register. But if you fully pay your 2012 Subscription now (or any time before the end of March) you will save $30 on your Subs.

That is from 1st of April you WILL pay $30 more.

“You’d be a fool not to pay by the 1st April”

Our fee structure for 2012 is:

2012 Subs have been set at:

- Seniors – $220 – if Registered & Fully PAID Before 1st April 2012
- Seniors – $250 – All registrations & payments from 1st April 2012
- Colts (U21) / Students* / Backpacker* – $110
- Social – $60

Remember to have your credit card ready when registering.

To register now, click on the link below:

Registration Site: http://register.waverleyrugby.com.au/

We Recommend Private Health Insurance

Please note, the Club’s Insurance Policy is not a replacement for Private Health Insurance. The policy is fairly limited for all bar the most serious injuries.

The best bet is to have a read of this article on the Clubs Insurance Policy (note the article is a little out of date but it gives the gist), and particularly follow the links.

Trial 1 – This Weekend – Details – Waverley Vs Canterbury and Alexandria

Congratulations on numerous levels….firstly to those who played in the Taki Toa competition on Saturday. Although we were not victorious all reports are that we played a great brand of rugby, fast paced, mobile, and with some good old Waverley flare!! Pass it here, pass it there….we’re gonna pass it everywhere….

Mitre 10 Fundraiser – Thanks Waverley Warriors

Secondly a massive well done and thank you to the Waverley girls team who organised a very successful fund raising BBQ down at Matraville Mitre 10 on Sunday. Unfortunately the girls tournament was cancelled at the last minute and so despite no rugby action over the weekend, the girls got stuck in to help raise some much needed funds for the club – well done and thanks again ladies!

Boat Trip Wrap Up

Thirdly, a huge big shout out to our club captain, Kenny Brown, for organising the inaugural preseason Sydney Harbour boat cruise on Saturday. Unfortunately due to a jam packed preseason event calendar the date was not the best for a lot of the club and many could not make it, however the boat trip was attended by many past and future players. As you would come to expect, many beers and good stories were told and thankfully no one was lost over board (except Chris Protherough’s terrible hat). For those that missed it keep your eyes on the club website as we will be holding another one toward the end of the season – this will also now become an integral part of the club social calendar for future years!

Trials Start this Weekend – Trial 1 Details

This weekend coming sees the men start their season with the 1st trial match against Canterbury & Alexandria Dukes. This not only gives you an opportunity to stretch the legs and get some much needed match fitness but also a hugely anticipated chance to level a couple of old scores as we expect to play several Waverley old boys!

It’s really important that we get a great showing of players down to the trials so that the coaches can start to take a good honest look at people. With many changes to the coaching staff this year, old players enter the season with no form book and need to trial to ensure they are playing in the grade they want to come the 1st home fixture of the season on April 14th.

It’s also getting to the point where you need to be registered to play for the club and either have paid your subs in full or have a payment plan in place. No registration = No Insurance! With the club needing to pay $20k of costs in the next month, we need YOU or members to pay your subs and allow us to move forward.

Registrations MUST be completed online. No Paper Registrations permitted. To register, just jump to http://register.waverleyrugby.com.au/

Details for this weekend’s trial as follows:

17th March at Wills Ground, corner of Wardell & Lang Roads, Earlwood (see below for map and directions).

Remember to bring your own kit as there will be no Waverley kit available just yet.

1:30pm Canterbury v Waverley 20 minute half

Car pooling of lifts to get to the ground – for those wanting to get a lift then speak to boys at training on Tuesday & Thursday. Can those with spare room arrange to pick people up from the Bowlo before heading down to the ground.

Good luck guys and remember, slip, slap, slop….

Trial #3 – Vs Balmain & Easts | Photo Blog

What a great last trial for Waverley, with good wins across the day, some impressive defence, but most importantly some great numbers. Remember you can check out all of the photos on Flickr (unfortunately your humble photographer only got there for the last two periods. Will try and do better – which hopefully means a few more photographers to help out).
