Badda-Bing – Trials are Here

Badda Bing, Badda Boom… with trial numero uno on this Saturday it’s time to start getting serious…

Are you Registered

The first step in the process is to make sure you’re registered. For a few reasons, mainly the ARU / Subbies Rugby say you’ve got to. So there. Do it.

No doubt if the ARU / Subbies said you had to go to bed at 9.00pm each night for a week, and you’d receive AU$100,000, you probably wouldn’t do it, so here are the real reasons:

  • It protects you
  • It protects the Club

It Protects You

You are protected because you become covered by the Clubs, insurance policy. For relatively minor injury, you’re not going to get much out of it, but God forbid, if something really serious happened, you’re going to be looking to use the insurance policy.

The policy not only covers you in matches, but it also covers you at organised training. So as we get closer and closer to the season, and training gets closer to what you’re going to experience on match days, it’s better to have that policy sitting in your back pocket.

It Protects the Club

Basically the same applies to Waverley Rugby Club. Having you insured, provides protection to the Club / Coaches / Officials. Not having your insured potentially exposes the Club to a whole raft of problems if you get injured, or you injure someone else.

You Must be Registered to Play

Soooooo you will not be able to play for Waverley, ncluding Trial Matches, until you are registered.

If you want to play in this weekend’s trial matches, you must complete your registration now.

You can jump straight to our registration site here: http://register.waverleyrugby.com.au/

Clearly, if you want to play, you’ve got to register. But if you fully pay your 2012 Subscription now (or any time before the end of March) you will save $30 on your Subs.

That is from 1st of April you WILL pay $30 more.

“You’d be a fool not to pay by the 1st April”

We Recommend Private Health Insurance

Please note, the Club’s Insurance Policy is not a replacement for Private Health Insurance. The policy is fairly limited for all bar the most serious injuries.

The best bet is to have a read of this article on the Clubs Insurance Policy (note the article is a little out of date but it gives the gist), and particularly follow the links.

Returning Members

If you have previously registered through Infrasport (ie seasons 2008 to 2011), you can access and update your old details by clicking “Update Details” in the top left corner of the registration system.

Then use the username and password (top right hand corner) you created when you registered. If you’ve forgotten your username and / or password just click “forgot password” and enter your email address or username.

Note: for your 2012 Season registration to finalised you MUST complete the payment details and hit send. If you do not receive an email confirming your registration you are NOT registered, and will not be eligible to play, or receive the early bird subs offer. Simply log back in and complete the payment details to finalise your registration.

If you’ve changed email address since, email [email protected] with the details you wish to update, so we can amend your records and allow you to register using your old account details.

Why Register Now?

Until you are registered with Waverley you will not be able to play any games (including trial matches).

Pre-season Training 1st Feb 2011

Preseason Training to commence 1st February 2011.

At last the rugby season is on the verge of being back! As we head towards the 2011 season Waverley Rugby will be commencing preseason training on Tuesday 1st February 2011.

This year the club have enlisted 1st grade coach, Deon Smith to lead the initial 3-4 week block of training. This first block of training will focus on rugby specific fitness, strength and conditioning and be ably assisted by our other grade coaches, James Hassett, Denis Beaver, David Kavanagh and Kevin Frost.

Moving on and approaching the first trial games and Taki Toa (both pencilled in for mid March) preseason training will take on a more rugby skills and team drill onus whilst continuing to work on individual fitness levels.

In the final few weeks of preseason training and once the coaches have had an opportunity to watch all players train and play, preseason training will lean more towards team training sessions, set piece training and practice runs ahead of the open round of the season on 2nd April 2011.

Training will again take place at Waverley Oval No. 2/3 and around the park. Please be there at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm prompt start.

Please ensure you come prepared with both runners and your footy boots, and plenty of water. A little bit of cash for a beer at the Bowlo after will always be handy too….

Got any questions? Please feel free to contact any of the 2011 committee members who will be glad to assist. Click here for club contacts
In the meantime the regular Social Touch footy will be continuing for the next 2 weeks. Stay tuned to the Website Shout Box and Facebook page for more information.

on. on. on. OFF!!!!

As a result of last weekends wash out, Saturdays games (at least for Grades 1 to 4 and Colts) have been moved to the June long weekend. A decision about the women’s match will be made separately.

Unfortunately persistent rain on Friday night and Saturday morning resulted in both grounds being closed at the last minute. Apologise all for the confusion, and bombardment of SMS messages.

Didn’t Receive an SMS?

If you didn’t receive a text message advising you of the status, it means one of the following:

1 – You’re not registered. Please head to register.waverleyrugby.com.au to complete your details
2 – You didn’t put your mobile number in when registering. Again head to register.waverleyrugby.com.au and update your details
3 – You’ve previously elected not to receive any more text messages from the club (not much can be done about that I’m afraid).

The weather is looking dodge again this week, so stay tuned to the website, and we’ll keep you up to date with all the last minute information.

Back to Waverley Day

Waverley’s Old Boys Day, Back to Waverley Day has been deferred until later in the year as a result of the weekends wash out.

An announcement will be made shortly about a new date.

All Teams Playing at Home

Round 3 sees all teams return home, for what is set to be another fantastic weekend of rugby.

The weekends clash will see all men’s teams, including 5th Grade, taking on Eastern Suburbs rivals, University of NSW (UNSW), and the women taking on Drummoyne KWP.

Kick Off times are as follows:

Colts – 10.45am
Women – 11am (#2 Oval)
4th Grade – 12pm
3rd Grade – 12.55pm
5th Grade – 1.00pm (#2 Oval)
2nd Grade – 2.00pm
1st Grade – 3.15pm

It’s still too early in the season to be making any accurate predictions based on form, but the games against UNSW are always good solid affairs, with both clubs lifting when playing against each other. Certainly, not much separates Waverley & UNSW in the Divisional Championship, with Waverley on 156 points and in 7th place, and UNSW on 182 points and 5th place.

The women will be looking to make it back to back wins this weekend, playing competition newcomers, Drummoyne KWP. Pre-season form indicates Waverley will be having a good knock this weekend, especially with the representative players back in the squad.

Post Match Speeches @ The Palace

Remember, As principal sponsor of Waverley Rugby Club, all post match functions and speeches will occur at The Palace. This will include $7 jugs of beer, free food, plenty of rugby live on the big screen, and more.

We’ll even be running buses directly from the ground (first bus leaving along Bondi Rd immediately after 1st Grade, with subsequent buses picking people up from Waverley Bowling Club).

Why not bring your friends and family down and make a great night of it.

Shorts and Socks

The shorts and socks have now arrived and are available for collection.

Remember you only get your shorts and socks once you have paid your Subs, or have put a payment plan in place.

To pay your subs, head to the following page.
