Photo Blog – Round 1 2012 – Waverley Rugby Vs Brothers

1st Grade’s 2012 Season got off to a tough start, coming up against last years Div 4 Champions, Brothers.

In the end, Waverley walked away on the wrong side of 45 – 8 result, which isn’t a fun way to start the season. That will be turned around soon…

Still, it was great to be back on Waverley Oval, pity that we just couldn’t get access to the new Pavilion.

More photos are up on Flickr. Check em out.

Photo Blog – Trial #1 2012 – Waverley Rugby Vs Canterbury

For trial 1, Waverley Rugby made the small jump to the Inner West, to supposedly play Canterbury and new club, Alexandria, in a trial. Supposedly? Well, the smell of a rain was a little bit too much for the new boys from Alexandria, so they went home to their mum’s place for devonshire tea. Apparently Alexandria are known as “The Dukes”. More like “The Dukes of (Water) Hazards”. Sorry, that was a terrible line…

Ever played at Canterbury Rugby’s ground, Wills Oval? If you have, you’ll note it sits about 1m above the adjacent Cooks River. Courtesy of all the summer rain, Canterbury was flush with green green grass. Yehp that’s ok, but the length was halfway up your legs, and it was hiding the fact that the nights rain left another 3cm of water on top.

Needless to say, this sorted out the men from the boys, or more appropriately which Brits have been in country too long (looking at you Kenny Brown) and who have forgotten what it is like to play in these conditions week in week out.

Here is hoping conditions improve in future weeks.

Photo Blog – Women Away to Warringah Rats

Once again, Lauren Perry Sarah Ebsworth (sorry for the mix up girls, thanks Sarah) has snuck behind the camera to take some pictures for Waverley Rugby Club, capturing the girls as they headed North to play against the Warringah Rats on 7 May 2011.

Fabbo pics Sarah!

Want to see your photos here? Why not volunteer to pull out your camera (even if it is just a point and shoot) and capture some snaps, of all the action either on or off the field. If you’re interested, just put your comment below.

Ladies Day 2011 Photo Blog

Thanks to Lauren Perry for getting behind the camera and taking these awesome photos for Ladies Day. As you can see it was a fantastic day out at Waverley, despite the crappo weather. The lesson? Make sure you make it down to Ladies Day 2012 at Waverley.

Remember this weekend is Family Day. With some decent weather, all teams playing at home, jumping castle, face painting, and show bags, it will be another great day out at Waverley.

Without further ado, here are the Ladies Day photos… you can check the rest of them out on our Flickr Photostream (which, out of interest has had over 245,000 hits since we launched it in 2007.

Photo Blog – Round 1 Waverley Women Vs Penrith

Here is a quick selection of photos from the Women’s Round 1 clash away to Penrith. The girls didn’t win, but it was a very solid hit out, and they are looking good for the season ahead.

Cardsmart Colts Vs Hornsby Photo Blog

Unfortunately the Colts went down to Hornsby… but they went down in style, putting up a good display for the unexpectantly large crowd.

As you can see the weather ended up playing nice…

Remember to head to Flickr to see the full selection of photos.

Apologies for lack of photos in recent weeks. We will try and rectify the matter, but probably just focussing on getting on one grade at a time.
