The committee is working very hard to make ends meet with the new pavillion, sponsorship, coaches, fundraising, physio, team kit, recruitment, insurance, fixtures, pre-season, taki toa… etc etc . You get the point! There’s a million things to do!

What we really need at this point in the season is cold hard cash. We have an enormous Insurance bill that HAS to be paid by March 31st and currently we are short.

What can you do?

 1) Pay Your Subs Now – You need to pay subs anyway so why not get them paid early and pay the discounted rate of $220 instead of $250. This will be a massive help to the committeee if we can get subs payments early. You can either:

2) Attend The Club Functions & Fund Raisers – We have Registration Night this Saturday 11th Feb. They’ll be some light training on oval 2 beforehand from 2.30 and then Rego night AT Waverley Bowls Club from 4pm – Please get down there, drink some beer and Register/pay your subs.

On March 10th we also have the Harbour Boat Cruise that Club Captain Kenny Brown is organising. It is 3 hours of drinking beer, eating and admiring one of the worlds best harbours – all with your mates! Email: Captain@waverleyrugby.com for more info or phone 0433133244

3) Sponsorship – We have a sponsorship pack available to download. Ask your boss, ask you parents, rich mates if they can sponsor in any way. This Saturday, 11 Feb, the Waverley Womens 7s Team, the Waverley Warriors, will be playing an exhibition game against the NSW Fire Women as part of Bondi Tens.  This will be the first game of the season for the newly formed 7s Team and we are looking forward to an exciting match.

Why not come on down and show your support and join the girls for a beer or two afterwards.  The game will be held at Woollahra oval at 2.30pm.

The club will be holding a Drinks & Registration night (same day) for new and returning players later that day - 4pm @ Waverley Bowling Club. Get down, watch the girls, then head on up to the Bowlo for a few beers and get registered for the new 2012 season. Everyone is welcome!

Pre-season kicked off in style last night with a great turn out - approx 40 men and 15 Women turned out for a run out. Wednesday should be another good session with Pro-trainer - Nathan Ferguson taking the Mens session.

After training on Wednesday we’ll be having a gold coin donation BBQ & Beers (weather permitting) to reward your efforts – SO BRING SOME $1 & $2 COINS if you want food and beers after training. Training KO’s off @ 7.15 with touch for 7.30 start.

REGISTRATION NIGHT – THIS SATURDAY 11TH FEB

If you’re planning on playing this year it’s a great idea to get you subs paid up early. Subs are currently $220 and will increase to $250 on April fools day – You’d be a fool not to !! Wahhh On saturday we’ll be having a few drinks at Waverley Bowling Club @ 4pm (just across the road on Birrell Street) and will have the Computer ready to take in registrations and subs payments.

With Taki Toa training having just started and pre-season virtually on our doorstep, please keep the below dates in mind over the coming weeks:

Pre-Season Training:

• Monday 6th February – 7:15 – 8:00pm
• Wenesday 8th February – 7:15 – 8:00pm – PRE-SEASON BBQ & BEERS AFTER TRAINING
• Saturday 11th February – Registration & Drink Afternoon – 4pm – Venue TBC

Training will continue on Monday’s & Wenesday’s @ 7.15pm throughout February for the mens and womens team.

Taki Toa Training:

Training is now taking place every Wednesday and Saturdays @ Waverley Oval 2

With Pre-season training starting next Monday some of the boys have been playing touch footy at Waverley Oval 2 on Tuesdays 7pm. Last few weeks have seen a good turnout with approx 7 as side – so perfect numbers for a decent run out.

Waverley Preseason Boat Trip – 10th March

The summer is coming to an end and its time to start thinking about the season ahead. We have organised a preseason boat trip to make sure that everyone has some solid drinking experience before the season starts…  This is a great opportunity for everyone to get together prior to the preseason fixtures, meet this seasons coaching staff and have a great day on the harbour. The boat will be departing at 3pm from Double bay wharf (returning to same) on 10th March. The cost will be $100 per head including a BBQ and plenty of booze.

The Waverley Women’s team are currently busy with their 7′s season ahead of the regular main season. They are the ONLY womens’ Rugby Union Team in the Eastern Suburbs and are recruiting new players for the 2012 Season.

If you’re interested in playing, they can currently be found training on Saturday Morning’s on the Grass at Coogee Beach from 9.30am for 7′s training.

The Regular 15′s Pre-Season Training will kick off 6th Feb up at Waverley Oval 7.30PM with the Men’s team.
