Kimmy represents Sydney

Congratulations to Kim McKenzie who is currently playing rugby for the Sydney Women’s Team.

The team is usually stuffed-full of Sydney Uni and Warringah players, so for Kim to be on the team showing that Waverley girls can be just as good as the players from the stronger teams is great for us all.

Kim has been playing rugby since her teens, but only joined Waverley in 2007. She has been a constant member of the team ever since then, and does a great job propping, usually at tight-head.

Her first game for Sydney was last weekend when they went down to Canberra to play the ACT Women’s team as a curtain-raiser to the Brumbies v Stormers game.

Kim played the whole of the first half, during which the game remained scoreless. Kim was subbed off at half-time, and the ACT girls went on to beat Sydney 17-5. Maybe Kim should have played the whole game…

The only Sydney score was a try from hooker Victoria Meki (Merrylands).

Sydney’s next game is 11th June at Coogee Oval. 1.15pm kick-off against NSW Country. The women’s game will be followed by a men’s game, also Sydney v Country (kick-off 3.10pm). See flyer below for full details:

Lets have a big Waverley effort to get down there and support one of our own!
