After the weekends results Waverley is 64 points behind Hornsby in the Divisional Championship. This puts us behind the eight ball, and we’ve got a huge challenge ahead of us if we’re to stay in Div 2 in 2011 (our 40th Year)!!!!

This weekend is certainly Waverley’s Grand Final, especially with Waverley travelling to away to Hornsby.

State of the Nation

Almost every which way you figure it, Waverley pretty much has to win 1st grade if it is to have any chance of scraping through. Mathematically it is possible to get through with a loss in 1st Grade, but would need bonus points wins in all the other grades (and not let Hornsby get bonus points) and for 1st Grade to get at least one bonus point.

The most likely scenario to see us through then becomes: a win in 1st grade, a win in 2nd grade and then a win among one of the other grades.

What does this mean?

Well for starters we need to make sure we get numbers there. The numbers away to Newport was very dire, and if we have a repeat this weekend, we’ll be joining Div 3 in 2011.

This week, the coaches will be contacting players to determine availability.

Can you please ensure you make training on Thursday night too (see note below about another Beer and BBQ evening).

Then we need every single grade, to put their hardest into every grade. Even if they are looking like they are heading for a loss (or a win), we need them to be seeking those extra few bonus points (ie 4 tries or more and/or losing by 7 points or less).

It will certainly be a close run thing, and should make for an exciting day. The weather looks good for the weekend too.

Beers and BBQ – Thursday Night

After training on Thursday night, we’ll be having another Beers and BBQ session.

It will be the same deal as last time, with a cold coin donation getting you a bit of a feed and some beers.

The initial idea was to drink any left over stock from the season, but after a massive Ladies Day, there is only one case of light left, plus a few cans of diet coke. You guys simply drank the house dry.

Full Review of Ladies Day to Come

We’ll have a full review shortly, but all I can say from my perspective it was a cracking day.

The highlight goes to Jon the DJ! Absolute Legend!
