It’s been quite some time, but all seven teams are at home tomorrow under perfect blue skies, for a series of great clashes against Hunters Hill (all men’s teams) and Warringah (women).
It is another formidable round for Waverley, with Hunters Hill and Warringah currently both 2nd in their respective competitions, and both on sizzling form in recent rounds. See below for more details.
BBQ and Beers
Thanks to all those that stuck around for Beers and the BBQ after last nights training. I think everyone will agree it was great night out, especially as followed by too many beers at the Robin Hood.
We will be doing this again prior to the end of the season. Probably August 19th (Thursday of last round of home and away). Stay tuned for full details.

Match Previews
Cardsmart Consulting Colts
After a slow start, Hunters Hill are looking odds on favourites to take out the Roberston Cup, despite sitting in 3rd place on the table. 1 game down and 5 points behind the competition leaders, Hunters Hill have recorded six wins on the trot, beating the top two teams in recent weeks.
Waverley’s form is also on the improve in recent weeks. After a mid season slump, Waverley has recorded three wins in a row, and is looking to take an unlikely scalp this weekend. After beating St Ives away last week (who sit just four points behind HH), Waverley knows it has the goods, if only it can improve on its home game record.
This will be the match of the round, so get down early to support Waverley’s young guns as they look to go a hunting…
JCB Communications & Aquilla Plumbing Flying Fifths
Along with Colts, the Halligan Cup encounter against Hunters Hill is also expected to be a cracker of a game. Just five points separate the two clubs, and with HH having beaten Waves 17 – 12 last time, many in the club will be looking to even the ledger.
In recent weeks, both Waves and HH have been on the wrong side of the ledger, and both clubs will be giving it their all to be back in black.
I can’t wait.
The Palace 2nd Grade
Waverley’s chances of making the finals keep getting slimmer every week, but there is a chance for Waverley to sneak in if it can turn things around quick smart.
Standing in Waves way, is the inform team in the Stockdale Cup. Hunters Hill are top of the table, having only recorded one loss (against St Ives), and one draw (against Hornsby). But with six wins on the trot, Hillies will be formidable oppo, especially with Hunters Hill having shown they can score and score often, with 8 bonus point wins this year so far.
3rd Grade
On paper, this is Waverley’s easiest encounter against HH this weekend, with HH sitting 7th on the table, against Waverley’s 10th. With Waverley having arrested a give week losing streak with a 12 all draw to St Ives last weekend, Waverley is confident of keeping HH to three losses on the trot.
The Palace 1st Grade
The Round 14 clash in the Barraclough Cup is an important one for both Waverley (9th) and Hunters Hill (4th), with Waverley trying to stay afloat in Div Two in 2010, and Hunters Hill trying to secure their spot in the top four (just three points ahead of 5th) and to take the lead in the Divisional Competition.
Hunters Hill form in recent weeks has been a little indifferent with a great win over Waverley’s favourite oppo (Barkers Old Boys) two weeks ago, but with narrow losses to Kings and Briars before that. Those losses aren’t shabby by any means, with Briars in 1st and Kings in 5th, but when you look through Hunters Hill results, the margins are generally tight, whether they win all lose.
What does this mean for Waverley’s 1st Grade? Well Hunters Hill will be tough, very tough, but there is a chance of Waverley securing an upset win if it doesn’t let discipline let it down.
Alexander Associates 4th Grade
In theory this should be the match of the round, as it’s another top of the table clash this weekend (and will be again next week if results go to form) in the Richardson Cup.
But with Waverley undefeated, it is likely to be a bit of a fizzer with Waves looking to knock Hunters Hill down a notch, and setting up a top of the table clash against Kings next weekend.
NSW Farmers Women
Warringah have the hood over Waverley is recent years, and things aren’t expected to be much different this weekend. But you never know. Waverley has shown some improvement this season, and is hoping for that to continue in coming weeks.
