At Waverley, we field five to six senior men’s teams each year, with the aim of making sure everyone gets good game time week in, week out.

Across these teams, we cater for all rugby abilities, from those who have never played before or just want to play good social rugby (lower grades) to a very high standard in Grades One and Two. By joining Waverley, you will quickly be selected for the right team to play in, and through our coaching be improving your standard to push into higher levels.

Grades One to Four, together with Colts,  play in Division Three of Subbies and play home and away with each other every week.

Grades Five and Six, also known as the Flying Fifths, Fifth Platoon or other moniker from time to time, play in the Halligan Cup of Subbies. Generally Halligan teams play away from the rest of the club, although we try to arrange these matches against the same opposition as the other grades, or at least play near by in order to keep everyone together.

Training is on two nights a week for most grades (note some lower grades may choose to train one night per week). Training details are:

Waverley Oval
Corner of Bondi Rd & Park Pde

- Tuesdays – 6.30pm
- Thursdays – 6.30pm

Pre-season training starts the first week of February (typically the Birrell St end of Waverley Park, before moving to the main oval in mid March). Training goes through until late August / early September depending on finals.
