We’ll also try and post some pictures of the more pi$$weak attempts.

Annual Report and 2011 Committee

Further to Saturday’s announcement, the 2010 Annual General Meeting (AGM) has been held, and congratulations must go to the following people who have been elected for the 2011 Committee.

President - James “Sneakers” McMillan
Senior Vice President – Nik “Spud” Buchanan
Senior Vice President – Bob Burgess
Club Captain – Josh Lose
Secretary - (No nominees – position to be filled – See below for more information)
Treasurer - Jerome Wood
Social Secretary – Kirsty Jordan
Management Committee -Leigh Draper
Management Committee – Rennie Mihaka
Management Committee – Emily Walpole

Full of new blood, the new Committee is set to make 2011 one of the best yet, bringing new ideas, new levels of enthusiasm.

With so many new faces on the Committee, everyone will be trying to get up to speed as quick as possible. Importantly, most of the retiring members of the 2010 Committee have promised their assistance in ensuring a smooth hand over, and providing input, where requested, throughout the season.

Most importantly, it was the biggest turn out we’ve had at an AGM in a long time (far eclipsing last years impressive numbers, with Two Life Members in attendance, Ray Eardley and Dennis Beaver in attendance.

Like last year, it was also great to see so many nominations for all Committee roles, with votes needed to decide most positions.

Secretary’s Role to be Filled

Unfortunately there were no nominees for the Secretary’s position. For the moment, this means the role will be left vacant, with the other Committee Members to cover that function in the interim.

The role of Secretary, is an important one for the Club. As the interface between other Clubs, Subbies, Council, and the membership in general, it is critical that this role be filled.

If you know anyone who would be interested in the role, please get them to contact someone on the new Committee. Once the new Committee has settled in, they will consider exactly how to progress this item, but it probably will be a Special General Meeting to vote on a potential candidate, or they will hold an Initial General Meeting at the start of the new season. Stay tuned for details.

The Annual Report and Financial Statements were endorsed at the AGM. Click the link below to download a copy.

AGM on Saturday

Waverley’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) is on this Saturday.

Head down to Waverley Bowling Club at 3.15pm for 3.30pm.

Get down nominate for the committee, or vote for who you want to be on the committee.

This is your chance to have your say.

The business of the 2010 AGM will be:

- To receive and consider the Reports of the Committee (including Treasurer’s Report)
- To elect the Club Officials for the 2011 Season
- Receive any business duly advised prior to the AGM

All current Committee positions will be declared vacant. The following roles will be voted on, in the following order:

- President
- Senior Vice President
- Senior Vice President
- Club Captain
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Social Secretary
- General Committee
- General Committee
- General Committee

Even if you are not able to run for a Committee role, please try and attend the AGM. After the survey, this is your chance to have some say in the running of the Club. The bigger the turn out the better.

After the AGM is closed, we’ll also have a general discussion about which direction people want to take the club. This will be a great starting block for the 2011 Committee.

A copy of the Club’s Constitution is included below (please note the By-Laws are not current)

Constitution – Waverley Rugby Club.pdf

Current Committee Intentions

As per Monday’s news item, nearly everyone currently serving on the Committee have indicated they will not be seeking re-election for 2011.

Heading into our 40th year, the make up of the Committee will be particularly important. To limit the impact of a complete turn over on the Committee, the existing Committee have committed to ensuring as smooth as transition as possible, and to help out as much as they are able to throughout the year.

Volunteers

If you do not want to commit to a Committee role, why not become a volunteer for the club?

This year, we’ll particularly need a dedicated group of people for the Social Committee. Working with the Social Secretary, you will help put on an array of events throughout the year, including:

- Open Night (held in February to welcome new members)
- Ladies Day
- Family Day
- Back to Waverley Day (the Old Boys Day)
- Presentation Night
- 40th Anniversary Dinner (and associated celebrations)
- Other events (Trivia Nights, theme nights, whatever takes your fancy).
- Golf Day

You don’t necessarily need to commit to helping run all of these. Maybe, just take responsibility for running an event or two.

There are also a heap of other things needing doing around the club. See some suggestions here.

Want to Know your Tackle Force?

For those that took part in the University of NSW Tackle / Shoulder injury study (down at Waverley Oval on Ladies Day)… the results are in!

Unfortunately I’m not able to give you the details, but if you want to find out, you can contact the organiser directly.
